MORGAN DOLLAR: Designed by George T. Morgan, the Morgan dollar weighs 26.73 grams and is 90% silver & 10% copper. Introduced in 1878, the Morgan dollar was used until 1921 when the Peace dollar design was introduced. The Morgan silver dollar is one of the most common designs with many years mintages in the double digit millions. Some of the most valuable Morgan silver dollars were minted in Carson City. These dollars are indicated by the two small CC letters located in the back of the coin (the reverse) directly beneath the feet of the eagle. The Carson City mint coins are so valuable because the mint was only in operation for 19 years. Morgan silver dollars bearing the CC mark often go for premiums above & beyond a regular coin.
