EISENHOWER DOLLAR: Eisenhower dollars were designed to honor both President Dwight D. Eisenhower as well as the first landing of man on the moon. The coin is designed by chief engraver Frank Gasparro whose initials are located beneath the eagone on the reverse. There is one version from the San Francisco mint which was issued to collectors only and is 40% silver. Our Coin Shop has been serving Ridge Wood and the surrounding Bergen County for over 10 years. It is with great pride that we continue.  PEACE DOLLAR: Produced from 1921 through 1933. It was originally intended to be commemorative peace coin and was issued without congressional sanction. It was designed by Anthony de Francisci who was a medalist. His monogram is located beneath the neck of Lady Liberty on the front of the coin. 1922 was the most popular year for peace dollar production with total mintage exceeding 1,000,000 coins. This is followed by 1923 and 1925 with production exceeding 40,000,000 coins. Peace dollars weigh 26.75 grams and are 90% silver and 10% copper. Peace dollars were minted in Denver, Philadelphia and San Francisco. MORGAN DOLLAR: Designed by George T. Morgan, the Morgan dollar weighs 26.73 grams and is 90% silver & 10% copper. Introduced in 1878, the Morgan dollar was used until 1921 when the Peace dollar design was introduced. The Morgan silver dollar is one of the most common designs with many years mintages in the double digit millions. Some of the most valuable Morgan silver dollars were minted in Carson City. These dollars are indicated by the two small CC letters located in the back of the coin (the reverse) directly beneath the feet of the eagle. The Carson City mint coins are so valuable because the mint was only in operation for 19 years. Morgan silver dollars bearing the CC mark often go for premiums above & beyond a regular coin.
